Asset-Based Case Management and Coaching

This module builds on the asset-based approach introduced in the first module. Participants will learn the fundamentals of career coaching and how coaching differs from case management. They will also learn basic group process and facilitation skills.

At the conclusion of this module, learners will be able to:
  • Describe the principles of asset-based coaching.
  • Discuss the differences between coaching and case management.
  • Discuss the GROW model of coaching.
  • Apply the GROW coaching model to working with customers.

Conduct a GROW coaching session with a customer and write a journal entry:
  • Give some background on the customer
  • What GROW questions did you use and how did the session play out?
  • How did the customer respond?
  • What would you do the same the next time?
  • What would you do differently?
  • What challenges or issues did you face in implementing the model?
  • How might you adapt GROW to work with other customers?
